BMW announce 9 new models for 2025

All-electric iX1 expected to be offered later this year too

BMW Group Thailand will introduce nine new models at the upcoming Bangkok International Motor Show next month, and the company will also launch an all-electric compact SUV later in 2025.

In 2024, BMW was able to maintain its leadership in the luxury car market in Thailand for the fifth straight year with sales of 12,208 vehicles, a decline of 13.6 per cent, although MINI sales grew by 7.6 per cent to 1,451 units. BMW Motorrad sales dropped by six per cent to 1,011 units.

Rene Gerhard, president and CEO of BMW Group Thailand, said the company will bank on the momentum from the Motor Expo in December to launch more models before the end of Q1. They include new M (updated M2 and M5 Touring) and M Performance models, updated 4 Series, MINI John Cooper Works fully-electric car and the updated S 1000 RR superbike.

During the latter half of the year the German automaker is also expected to launch the fully-electric iX1 with 204hp and a range of over 400kms from a 64.7kWh battery.

Meanwhile, the BMW Manufacturing (Thailand) assembly plant in Rayong will also be churning out MINI vehicles again after a seven-year break, starting with the Countryman. This makes the Rayong facility the only BMW plant to produce vehicles from the BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad brands. The majority of production is for the local market, with a small number of X5 being exported to China.

Gerhard said that during the past two years, the plant has reached its highest utilization since it started production of the 3 Series in May 2000.
