Ford Thailand and Thai-Austrian Technical College (TATC) has renewed the “Transforming Knowledge into Careers” dual education program for the seventh consecutive year to continue empowering Thai students with necessary skills for automotive industry.
The partnership includes a Bt2-million scholarship and donation of a 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission which are used in the Ford Ranger and Ford Everest models. This set of powertrain will allow students in the automotive department to gain hands-on experience with new technologies.
According to a press release from Ford Thailand, the program focuses on students pursuing a diploma in mechatronics and auto mechanical fields. During the two years of this program, mechatronics students will gain practical experience in various departments at Ford Thailand Manufacturing (FTM) plant including body stamping, body assembly, paint shop, final assembly, and plant engineering. Meanwhile, auto mechanical students will receive hands-on training and learn about customer service innovations at Ford service centers in Chonburi and Rayong provinces.
This collaboration further encompasses:
- Supporting and advising on the development of mechatronics and automotive engineering curriculums.
- Promoting educational activities such as practical training opportunities.
- Providing additional knowledge through college staff support.
Ratthakarn Jutasen, managing director, Ford Thailand, said, “This program serves as a bridge between knowledge and practice, preparing young generations to enter the workforce with innovative thinking and direct experience.”
This year, 14 students from TATC, Ford employees, and their children are participating in the seventh cohort of the program. This includes 9 mechatronics students and 5 auto mechanical students. Since the program’s inception in 2017, Ford has awarded scholarships to 54 individuals, valued over Bt8.4 million in scholarship funds.
